What’s On Guide, North Cornwall & Devon – May half-term 2018

What a treat!  This May half-term, we’ve found at least 18 brilliant events to keep us all amused.  There’s everything here from music, steam engines, dog shows, poetry, and food festivals.  It’s going to be tricky to decide what to do!  If we’ve missed an event in the area, let us know in the comments below.  Have fun!

Now in its 14th year, Open Studios Cornwall 2018 will see artists, craftsmen and designers opening their studios and workshops to the public. Grab a guide, create your very own art trail, follow the orange Os and explore the landscape as well as creative Cornwall. Bude & Stratton Folk Festival

Bude and Stratton Folk Festival is a friendly mix of folk events held on the late May Bank Holiday weekend 25-28 May 2018. It features music, song, dance, and storytelling. There are concerts, sing-arounds, sessions, a folk club, a barn dance, open-mics, fringe events, storytelling, a folk service and workshops.  The guest list includes Against the Grain, Capella, Didjan, Gadarene, Georgia Lewis Trio, Hannah Cumming, Jackie Oates & Tristan Seume, Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, Kitty Macfarlane, Reg Meuross, Sam Kelly Trio, and Thorn and Roses  Season tickets are £55, students half price, children are free.

Family Fun Fair

Launceston Steam & Vintage Rally

Launceston Steam & Vintage Rally is held every year over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May.  It is a fun day out with numerous attractions for the whole family that raises money for local charities and organisations.  www.launcestonsteamrally.com 

Kindred Spirits Festival
Waterloo Farm, North Petherwin, Launceston PL15 8LL

Kindred Spirits Festival is a two day music event with camping located in North Petherwin near Launceston. Two live music stages boasting diverse festival acts and also a dedicated dance tent. There are many shops and stalls, a Licensed bar, a variety of food vendors, and a holistic healing area. Kindred Spirits also hosts battle re-enactments and living history talks with The Warriors of Tintagel, and children’s area including Flotsam the Fool’s circus workshops, arts and craft workshops, facepainting, bouncy castles and much more still to be confirmed. Craft Drop In Sessions

We offer a drop in session for children of primary school age. It is a session aimed specifically at children so it is not structured. For just £10, they can choose from a range of items and paint. No need to book, just drop in! Most sessions run 10am -12 noon. Drop in sessions last between 20 and 45 minutes.  We give your children a brief two minutes introduction. They have a choice of breakfast plate, cereal bowl, mug, heart, trinket box, tile. £10 per child per item

Bridgerule Beer Festival

Come and join us for our family friendly beer festival this May Bank Holiday Weekend! We have a selection of 10 beers and ciders for you to try, live music from Feedback, Iguana Sunset and the Bridgerule Jammers plus adult and children bouncy castles and plenty more!  Adult tickets are £4.00 and children are £2.50, tickets cover entry for both days! The Charles Causley Festival

Open Day – Poundstock Gildhouse

Friends of Bude Sea Pool will be holding its 5th Big Lunch — a UK annual get together for neighbours.  Starting at 2.00 pm there will be music and entertainment all afternoon and taster sessions in the water from Bude’s Water Polo team, Bude SLSC.  The Eden Project’s ‘The Big Lunch’ is a community event which has grown ten-fold and each year gets bigger and better. Local volunteers and businesses give their time and food totally free of charge.
