As most of you are aware, the government has given us permission to re-open all our cottages from Saturday 4th July [Updated information HERE]. This has been further endorsed by Cornwall Council and Visit Cornwall.  Of course, this is dependent on there not being a second lockdown or further restrictions.

For those of you who have booked with us over the summer, we will be delighted to welcome you back to Tamar Valley Cottages.  Needless to say, we will be keeping a close watch on any restrictions and will contact guests if there is a chance their stay may still be impacted in some way.

Refunds, Cancellations and Postponements

Guests who make their booking direct with us will be under our own cancellation policy which we have relaxed due to the pandemic.  When a stay has been affected by covid-19, we are happy to refund all payments or alternatively move the holiday to other available dates.

For guests that have used a partner site for their booking (e.g. HomeAway, AirBNB, TripAdvisor etc), unfortunately we do not handle the payments or control refunds, and although we can usually refund some money, these companies have a policy of keeping their booking fee after a certain date.  If this affects you, we recommend you view the Coronavirus help page of the site you used.

Our Hygiene Precautions

As Tamar Valley Cottages, we are Members of PASC (Professional Association of Self-Caterers) who have issued guidelines on the cleaning and sanitation of all Holiday Accommodation.  We are following this closely. In addition to this, Visit Cornwall and the AA have given us ‘Risk Assessments’ to carry out for each cottage. This ensures the ‘High Risk’ areas are fully sanitised and we have now been awarded official ‘COVID-19 Confident’ status from the AA.

  • All our bedding (including the pillow and mattress protectors) are changed after each guest leaves.
  • All linen is washed at 90 degrees.
  • We are steaming soft furnishings between each guest staying.
  • We are using a viricidal disinfectant which is certified for EN 14476 on all surfaces and touch points.
  • Particular attention is being paid to all bathrooms which receive a deep-clean between bookings.
  • We are including antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiser in the welcome pack for each cottage.

As our guests already know, we have always gone to extreme lengths to maintain exemplary levels of hygiene and cleanliness in our cottages.  However, we have enacted the rigorous processes above to ensure that our high standards also exceed the new guidance relating to coronavirus.

Staying in the Area
Shops, attractions and places to eat are gradually opening up, and have their own coronavirus precautions in place.  In the cases of restaurants, evening dining will require advanced booking, and most of them have reduced availability. Our immediate area is very rural and quiet, and one is unlikely to meet the volume of people that can be found in resorts further down the county.  However, we still advise our guests to seek out quieter areas or beaches – we have a comprehensive guide in each cottage that suggests less busy locations to visit. We are very much looking forward to welcoming back visitors to our area.  If you have any queries or concerns about a stay with us, please do get in touch.
